The state government announced Friday that two more victims of the train attack in Edo State’s Igueben area had been rescued.

Gunmen kidnapped 31 people at a train station in the state’s Igueben Local Government Area. While many of them are now free, the Edo State Government announced the release of two more kidnapped people.

In a press conference in Benin City, the state’s Commissioner for Communications and Orientation, Chris Nehihkare, said one of the rescued victims was the President of the Igueben Area Customary Court, Precious Aigbonoga.

However, a police officer, DSP Micheal Adams, died during the rescue operation.

The victims were kidnapped while waiting to board a train from Igueben Station to Warri in nearby Delta State on Saturday.
