The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party has set up a disciplinary committee to decide on the status of the party
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party has set up a disciplinary committee to decide on the status of the party’s senatorial candidate for Enugu East district, Dr Chimaroke Nnamani, who was suspended from the party last week.
The establishment of a disciplinary committee followed Nnamani’s defiance after his suspension. The former Enugu governor took to his Twitter handle to condemn his party for suspending him, promising to still work for the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Chimaroke had started engaging in anti-party activities soon after the presidential primaries. His name was even listed on the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
The committee is likely to expel Nnamani from the party as well as inform INEC that PDP no longer has a senatorial candidate in Enugu East. The axe is also expected to fall on certain chieftains of the PDP in Enugu State who have been engaging in anti-party activities by campaigning for other parties’ presidential candidates.
Almost all PDP members and its candidates in this year’s polls in Enugu State have promised to vote for the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi. Only a handful of them such as Nnamani and the state governor are rooting for the APC candidate.
