It would have been news if Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council did not endorse HE Peter Obi for the presidency. As it happened, there were really no screaming headlines.
The council, headed by the Obi of Onitsha, His Majesty Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe CFR, received their son very warmly at the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council Hall in Anambra State Government House, Awka and promised him total support via the deputy chairman of the powerful council, HRH Igwe Ogene of Okpuno.
Unlike the President-Generals of various communities that have changed hands many times since the Labour Party presidential candidate left office, almost all the traditional rulers in the hall were there when the ex-governor was in office.
Hence, they knew he created the working structure that gave every traditional ruler his due respect and or place from his community and beyond. He built the hall they received him in to bring them closer to government and hence getting deeply involved in sanitising the society. He bought brand new Innoson jeeps for each of them in all the 177 communities. He made sure they were important arms of leadership that assisted immensely in bringing back our values as a people. They had experienced his humility, intelligence, prudence, accountability and general competence in office and they know he is very qualified and will extend his very effective management style to the nation from the presidency.
It will take a very dishonest mind to feel Peter Gregory Obi’s governance style and not wish him for Nigeria’s presidency. The Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council evidently belong to the honest cadre.
