The Governorship candidate of the Labour Party, (LP) in Enugu State, Honourable Chijioke Edeoga has urged the citizens to be vigilant and ensure that their votes are protected during the next Saturday’s gubernatorial and state’s assembly elections.
Honourable Edeoga in a broadcast which has gone virile said that information at his disposal indicated that the ruling party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has infiltrated the seventeen local governments areas with armed thugs.
He disclosed that some of the thugs allegedly imported from Anambra State were arrested Sunday morning in the guest house of Isi Uzo Local Government Head Quarters, lkem.
He praised the military and the police personnel in Isi Uzo for their proactive action in arresting the hoodlums.
He noted that woeful performance of PDP in the last presidential and National Assembly elections in Enugu has made the ruling party more desperate and audacious reiterating the need for citizens to be extra vigilance and report any strange faces around their communities immediately to the security agencies.
The Labour Party gubernatorial candidate assured the electorate that he had interfaced with all the heads of security agencies in the state and that they all assured him of their determination to ward off any thuggery in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the entire Enugu.
He told the people to report any strange faces seen around their communities so as to avert a repeat of the mayhem unleashed on the people in 2003 general election during the regime of Chimaroke Nnamani.
Meanwhile the arrested armed thugs in Isi Local Government have according to reports been moved to the State Police Command, Enugu where they are currently being interrogated.
