Dr Doyin Okupe was the first very important personality who joined the revolution that was later christened the OBIdient Movement. Only people who haven’t come close would not love him for being a fair and firm individual. And he’s not about eloquence alone. His intelligence and desire to have a country where things work go before him. Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku, of Taraba State will never forget the words of this great patriot sometime in early May in expressing reasons why HE Peter Obi is the man to lead a new Nigeria.
He wouldn’t have been the target of the people who want Nigeria to remain as it is – a potentially failed nation – if his workaholic inputs were not driving majestically home… But he has proved to the witch-hunters that he is far more decent than they’re willing to give him credit for. In the Obi-Datti Team, one of the priority rules is strict respect to law and order – the major key to the new Nigeria LP is after. Dr Okupe was convicted but he is no way a criminal. In my memoirs for my kids, I’ll engrave it in gold that a Nigerian resigned from a very important position just to enthrone real democracy. Heroes don’t come in better garbs.
