Report reaching our news desk, says eight containers conveying old naira notes to the bank, have been arrested in Lagos State.

It was gathered that the containers belongs to a popular presidential candidate in the 2023 election.

Sources further revealed that no sooner than the containers left for the bank, security operatives nabbed them.

The move to convey the old notes to the bank, would not be unconnected with the directive of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), for old notes to be returned to the bank following the redesign of the currency.

Central Bank of Nigeria, had pegged January 31st as deadline for the old notes to be retrieved.

However, following the outcry of Nigerians, on Sunday January 29th, 2023, the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, after a meeting with president Muhammadu Buhari, in Daura, Kastina state, extended the time frame to February 20, 2023
